Method & sources
Explore reported sidewalk and street hazards in San Francisco, with separate Los Angeles lighting and water context.
Source snapshot captured 2026-10-29. Publication 0d2b7dd6ec05ae48ef4b.
Service requests document reported conditions. They are not verified injuries, repairs, or findings of legal responsibility.
Coverage
- SF covers explicitly selected sidewalk, obstruction and street-defect categories since 2008.
- LA covers lighting and water-waste context only, 2020-2025. These are not verified sidewalk defects.
- LA 2025 is a partial year; no 2026 legacy dataset was discovered. Cross-city totals are not comparable hazard rates.
- Closed is an administrative status, not verified physical repair. A service request is not an injury or legal notice finding.
- Municipal claims and NEISS national injury samples remain separate research sources; not merged into hazard counts.
